Selene Press is happy to announce the 2026 Moonlight Novella Awards!
AWARDS
- First Prize $250
- Second Prize $150
- Third Prize $100
- Four honorable mention $50 each
- Publication in a contest winners anthology in Spring of 2026, with five free copies to each winner.
- Possibility of working with Selene to expand your novella concept into a full length novel or even a shared universe. Please send us a complete stand alone story though!
The Moonlight Awards are judged by an independent panel of writers and people in the indie / small press publishing industry.
ACCEPTING WORKS IN THE FOLLOWING GENRES:
Romantasy
All Genres of Fantasy
Young Adult Adventure
RULES
• Story length 10,000 to 15,000 words.
• Work must not have been published prior in any format.
• Work can be set in an existing universe.
• There are no requirements to fit any demographic as an author or include any specific demographic in the plot. Just tell a good story.
• All work must be human written. Any work that is even suspected of being AI will be rejected out of hand. This includes plot and character generation.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
(If you can't follow them your entry will not be considered!)
- Submit all stories to submissions@selenepress.com
- Email header '2026 Moonlight’
- Word Doc as attachment with story summary in email.
- TNR single space 12 pt
- Link to any Amazon Author Page or social media held by the author.
- Short author bio.
- Must be a previously unpublished work.
- Deadline is January 30th, 2026
- Feel free to send an "Intent to submit" email to submissions@selenepress.com and we'll send you a reminder of the deadline a few weeks out.
PUBLISHING DETAILS
- Selene Press will own exclusive publishing rights for one year. After one year author and Publisher will share rights.
- Selene Press will hold no rights to creative concept, characters or universes.
- Selene Press will offer signed contracts for publication in Awards Anthology.
Selene Press is a veteran owned Indie press specializing in developing new authors and telling great stories. It is run by many of the same people who brought you the great Science Fiction of Cannon Publishing. The CEO is himself a two time Dragon Award finalist and a pretty dang good writer.
